Unboxing a Roly-Poly the Size of Your Head

The Field Museum in Chicago is home to giant isopod specimens of up to a foot long. These creatures live between 300 and 800 meters under the sea, and exist as scavengers, searching for the dead remains of fish, whales, and crustaceans. The museum keeps these massive roly-polies in jars of alcohol for research.
