History, Heritage, Mythology and Stories fascinate me and I love finding interesting places to visit. My family and I are part of a Viking Reenactment group so we get to travel around Ireland to interesting places with the group and everywhere we go on holiday, at home or abroad, we research the place to see what we can find. I'm a partner in Creative Ardagh which provides heritage, SFI tours and workshops for small, large, family and school groups in a picturesque environment of historical and mythical importance. We have family links to Ardagh Heritage and Creativity Centre, our grandfather, Patrick J. Corkery taught in the school in 1916 and Annette's mother taught there in the 1970s. We now tell many stories there. We also share our stories offsite at festivals and events under our performance name of Scéalta Beo.
I write fiction for adults and children and newspaper articles. I also blog. I have some work published such as 'The Rocking Horse' in the anthology Ring around the Moon, 'Admiring Midir' and 'She of the Sidhe' in Midir and Etain Anthology, 'Midir the Proud, son of Eochaid Ollathair, the Dagda' in Harp, Club and Cauldron. I wrote the character Maggie in a chapter in the collaborative novella Let him Lie. A piece, 'Displacement' was part of a project responding to a local artist's work and 'Centre of the Universe' inspired a short film by a local filmmaker and have had some success in writing competitions. In a former life I audited accounts and did tax returns, now I tell stories.
