About

In the bustling historic part of Pune, an old-fashioned signboard swings above a restaurant door. As one steps into the establishment, one is instantly transported a hundred years back in time. Vaidya Upahar Gruha has been serving patrons delicious food since 1912. The atmospheric interior drips with vintage charm in the form of marble-topped tables decorated with artistic ironwork, antique mirrors, and old paintings adorning the walls.

The menu remains largely unchanged since the 1960s. Even today, the owners continue to serve their signature dishes which they have perfected over the decades. Misal pav, a traditional Maharashtrian bean curry, is their best-selling dish and they have their own version of it, which has delighted patrons time and again. Their other victuals include pohe, sabudana khichadi, bhaji, kharvas, all of which are made from scratch with care.
