About

In a preserved woodland area south of Copenhagen rises Skovtårnet, an hourglass-like tower built so that visitors, without disturbing the natural environment, can experience nature from a new perspective. A gently-inclined spiral ramp leads the way up to the top of the 148-foot (45-meter) structure, where an observation platform offers a 360-degree panoramic view above the tree crowns.

To reach Skovtårnet, you walk on a raised footpath through the Gisselfeld forest, winding around trees and across streams. After about two miles (3.2 kilometers) the path brings you to the base of the tower. To blend in with the surrounding landscape, the award-winning tower has been made of naturally rusty steel and locally-grown oak. It loops around 12 times, with slight changes to the incline and width of the tower as you climb. A wide view of the surrounding forest greets you at the top. On especially clear days, you might even be able to spot Copenhagen and Malmö in the distance.

Skovtårnet opened in 2019 and belongs to eco-friendly climbing park Camp Adventure.

Know Before You Go

Easiest way to get to Skovtårnet, which is located less than an hour's drive from Copenhagen, is by car. Tickets for the parking space can be purchased in advance from the Camp Adventure website.

It's also possible to reach the location by public transport: Catch a train to Næstved, change there to regional bus 630R, get off at the Vester Egede (Ny Næstvedvej) bus stop and then follow the Camp Adventure signs and walk along a gravel road for about 15 minutes to the entrance of the forest park.
