About

Kawa Kawa Hill takes its name from the local language for the word "cauldron." It is a hill that resembles a crater located not far from the foothills of the famous Mount Mayon.

A climb up the top of the hill will lead you to a view of the depression in the center and views over Ligao and the surrounding areas. Apart from its natural beauty, it is also famous for its unique life-sized depictions of the Stations of the Cross, which is the only one of its kind in the region. The stations show 14 important events of the life of Jesus Christ before and after crucifixion including the Last Supper. It was created by a local politician on his private land but allowed to be open to the public.

Kawa Kawa has now become both an eco-tourism attraction as well as a special place for Catholic devotees, especially during Holy Week when it attracts thousands of visitors.
