The 1990s and early 2000s were a boom time for the restoration of Shoreditch buildings. One of the beneficiaries of this trend was the Shoreditch Town Hall, sitting grandly at the tail end of Old Street.

Its original Victorian purpose was a vestry hall in which the governmental business of the borough was transacted. It also played host to the inquest of Jack the Ripper’s final victim, Mary Kelly, was a hub for fundraising during World War II and occasionally hosted music and variety shows through the 1920s & ’30s.
