About

Have you ever felt the urge to dial up the past? Standing along a highway in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, you can do just that. Across from a Civil War Battlefield stands the Prairie Grove Airlight Outdoor Telephone Booth, where what was once a commonplace utility has become a glass and chrome monument to midcentury America.

Erected in 1959, the booth is now the last working telephone booth in the state, and the only telephone booth on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Only a 20-minute drive from Fayetteville, Arkansas, go a little out of your way to make a memorable phone call to an old friend. When the past is calling, it’s the perfect stop.

Know Before You Go

The booth is directly across from the entrance to the Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park on the corner of East Douglas and Parker Streets.  There are two parking lots directly behind the booth, so stopping to place a call or take a few photos is easy.

As always, be considerate of those who work and live in the area.
