This sleepy West Virginia town is home to a amazing group of animal sculptures, created by local artist Ken Sinsel, who creates the scrap metal beasts in his spare time. His yard contains an imposing junkyard sea monster, a metal horse, and a handful of other creations. Sinsel also has other works installed throughout the town nearby.
Know Before You Go
A railroad track bisects the town, paralleling the river. The other half is on a ridge with a commanding view of the valley. Many fine historic homes are located there. Adding to their charm is the friendliness of the inhabitants! This location is easily accessed by traveling along West Virginia Route 2 North from Weirton, WV. Once Route 2 enters New Cumberland, it is called Ridge Avenue. The artist’s name is Ken Sinsel. He told me that people may view these works anytime during daylight hours, seven days a week!
