About

Up above the Macajalar Bay in El Salvador on the Philippines island of Mindanao is a 50-foot statue of Jesus, where the faithful process into his body via a staircase that radiates out from his body.

The monumental Christ is located at Divine Mercy Hills, and at his base is a healing chapel, while in his chest he holds a "chamber of adoration." According to the Divine Mercy Hills website:

"For years, the intercessory prayer group of the Divine Mercy Foundation Mindanao (Phils) Inc. in Cagayan de Oro received a message from the Lord: to build His church of Mercy with the vision of the Lord, standing on top of a hill overlooking the ocean."

The statue was completed in 2008, and is surrounded by lush gardens. Visitors are welcome, but advised to dress respectfully.
