During the 1970s, the football coach at Cadillac High School would often blare KISS before games and practice to motivate his players. Word of this routine eventually got back to the band, and in 1975, KISS came to visit the school, performing a concert during homecoming. In 2015 on the 40th anniversary of the concert, the monument was unveiled to commemorate the event.

The monument is believed to be the only one of its kind in the world dedicated to the band. It stands well over 8 feet tall and is laser-etched onto a massive slab of granite. The monument is located on the south side of the high school football field.
