About

The volunteer-driven cultural association Bolsjefabrikken (The Candy Factory) has taken its name from an abandoned candy factory, the group’s very first location, and is behind Copenhagen’s (and possibly Denmark’s) largest street art hotspot. Artists and activists have been infusing new vitality into the current Bolsjefabrikken place since 2009. Once a smithy, the locale’s exterior walls now serve as ever-transforming canvases for street artists, resulting in a captivating display of colors, shapes, and messages.

Bolsjefabrikken has gained official recognition as a designated area for artistic expression, thanks to the endorsement of local authorities. This acknowledgment not only validates the art created on these walls but also nurtures a profound sense of belonging among the individuals who have rejuvenated its premises. Alongside its varied non-profit offerings, the venue hosts music performances, film screenings, and communal gatherings.

Whether you’re a culture enthusiast or someone seeking an immersive urban adventure, Bolsjefabrikken offers an ever-shifting and thought-provoking experience. In this mural mecca, contemporary graffiti shines as brilliantly and boldly as the vibrant candies that were once manufactured in the factory that named the collective years ago.
