About

Once a medieval castle fit for a king with a bustling village community, today the site of Bagot's Castle lies at the bottom of a hill, nestled between the A46 and Coventry Airport.

The castle is somewhat mysterious, with little suggesting why it was built at the bottom of a hill or what it looked like, while the medieval village lies undisturbed beneath a field where a rare breed of goat calls home. In the Second World War, the Alvis Company built a tank testing track on the site running parallel to the River Sowe.

Bagot's Castle is also home to a number of Bagot goats, one of the oldest known breeds of goat in Britain. These small black-and-white goats have been roaming the hills of this area for more than 600 years.
