This grandstand was constructed in 1889 and designed by J W Cockrill, Great Yarmouth’s Borough Engineer. He was more commonly known as “Concrete Cockrill.”
The stands are the oldest football stands in the country, and one of the oldest continuously used in the world. The open construction of timber and concrete base makes watching a football match here a truly enjoyable experience, especially when you know you’re sitting on something that has survived more than a century.
