About

Wasserturmhochhaus Mönchengladbach appears to be a normal residential highrise building with 13 floors. However, this structure has a much richer history than just a mere residence.

During World War II a shelter was constructed on the site. Once the war ended, a water tank was installed on the roof of the shelter to supply Mönchengladbach.

Around 1949, 48 residential units were built encompassing the tower and bunker, giving it the appearance from the outside as just a highrise building. It has since been deemed a local landmark.
