Tinguely Fountain
This artistic fountain display pays homage to this area's theatrical history.
Tinguely Fountain ahvenas (Atlas Obscura User)
Artist Jean Tinguely created this unique group of kinetic sculptures.
The location of the fountain was once home to a stage that belonged to a theater company, which became the inspiration for the work of art that features different characters in motion. The work of art features about ten figures in total posed next to each other. Periodically, the characters move and play with the water designed to mimic a theater performance.
The fountain was completed in 1977 and is beloved by all. Tinguely has created other similar kinetic fountains such as the one in front of the Tinguely Museum in Basel, another can be found in Paris, and Fribourg.
