Situated in a historic townhouse in Melbourne, Australia, the extraordinary Johnston Collection is the lifelong work of prominent 20th-century collector and antique dealer William Robert Johnston. He amassed an impressive array of Georgian, Regency, and Louis XV furniture, paintings, ceramics, and objet d’art now on display at his former home of Fairhall.

Upon his death in the 1980s, Johnston left his remarkable collection open to the public, asking it be rearranged and reinterpreted regularly. This task is taken on beautifully by the curators from the contemporary arts community which is invited to use Fairhall as an installation space.
