This artificial grotto can be found along the north end of the San Antonio River Walk. The three-story structure is located in a bend of the river between the Camden and Newell Street bridges It offers a cavelike experience with fountains and a “monster” at the entrance. Sculpted out of tons of concrete, the Grotto was created in 2009 by artist Carlos Cortés. It has fake stalagmites and stalactites, real waterfalls, and several large, unsettling, open-mouthed heads.
