About

Take a step into an immersive Māori village where you’ll learn history and heritage through dance, ceremony, song, architecture, one-on-one interactions, and food. Te Pā Tū is a Māori cultural experience that shows some of the stories, dances, and foods of a family in a setting that harkens to their history.

In a forest setting dotted with traditional structures, visitors learn more about the history of this Māori family and more about the culture as a whole.

When everyone arrives, the family shares a haka pōwhiri welcome, followed by a visit to the forest where cultural demonstrations take place one-on-one. They also perform several dances and songs inside their amphitheater. This all culminates in a large meal that highlights traditional and local food. There are local wines, local meats, and items that have been cooked in the hāngi method of cooking which relies on an underground pit oven. From dances to food, this is a very immersive way to learn about the history of a family from the area.
