About

This little-known Swansea sanctuary was set up to celebrate that most humble form of public transport: the bus. Within this quirky museum, which is housed in a large hangar on an unassuming industrial estate to the north of the city center, visitors will find a fleet of over 30 buses, ranging from charming vintage red London double-deckers to multicolored Robin Hood models that puffed along the streets of South Wales in the 1980s. The star of the impressive collection has to be ‘Doris’, a striking, yellow, 20-seater originally manufactured in Chicago and imported to Wales in the early 1930s.

All of these retired vehicles are lovingly cared for by a passionate team of volunteers. Alongside its eclectic assortment of colorful coaches from yesteryear, the museum is also home to a number of classic cars, Land Rovers and emergency service vehicles—including a restored classic fire engine, and Swansea’s first ever police car. Also on display is a large model train set and slot car track, certain to entertain younger visitors with an interest in all things automotive.
