About

Visible from the coastline, around 500 meters meters out to sea, you can see the Demetrios II, a ship claimed by the south Cypriot seas. Heading to Syria from Greece with a cargo of timber, the ship would never reach its destination, running aground just off Paphos on the March 23, 1998. All eight crew members were airlifted to safety by British Military Helicopters.

It seems the captain and first officer of this ship weren't as qualified as they made out to be... Certificates for some of the crew members were found to be forgeries, according to Lebanese authorities.
