The PS Air Bar in Palm Springs, California, allows travelers to enjoy a first-class aeronautical voyage, but without the security line and turbulence. Located in the back of the Bouschet wine shop, this speakeasy transports its guests to the golden age of air travel, when eager travelers would dress to impress to board the party train in the sky. Complete with eight first-class and 27 coach seats, a pair of crew jump seats, airplane sidewalls, and bartenders dressed as stylish crew members, this in-flight experience keeps passengers fully immersed.

Guests receive a boarding pass to reveal a signature drink menu with concoctions such as the Mile High Club, Jet Lag, and Red Eye. As a flight attendant for over 30 years, Tom Beatty, who created the bar along with co-owner Dennis Costa, wanted to channel the wonder of air travel from the ground. The duo procured plane parts from an airline graveyard in the Mojave Desert, built glowing “storm” clouds that hang from the ceilings, and projected a scene flying through sun-kissed clouds into Palm Springs International Airport. They even received gracious donations, including vintage luggage and Continental’s original 1975 beverage cart.

On Saturday nights, passengers can enjoy an in-flight dining experience with a “Hostess from Hell,” complete with a hot meal (there’s a chicken, beef, or vegetarian option) served on a divided tray. Sundays are for Disco Boozy brunch drag shows, and Mondays feature a resident magician performing close-up tricks for each row. Local artists frequent the friendly skies performing live music in the back of the cabin.
