About

In the 18th century, the heavily fortified city of San Juan erected a wall for cannon placement overlooking the southeastern coast of Puerto Rico. After the cannons were removed or ceased to be used, pigeons began to settle in the sockets left behind. Since then, families have been bringing children to feed the bustling pigeon population.

Today, a small kiosk has been set up where you can buy pigeon feed, but the pigeons are so accustomed to feeding that they may land on you even if you don't have food. Bird toys and decorations adorn the trees in the park, put up and maintained by the adjacent Kid's Cafe (Cafe del Nino). The park also boasts a gorgeous overlook of San Juan and the San Juan Bay.

It is located next to the Capilla del Santo Cristo de la Salud.

Know Before You Go

The operating hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 pm. On Mondays the park is closed for maintenance.

If you'd like to have a pigeon land on you without purchasing feed, putting out your arm as if holding feed may encourage them.
