The Missouri Meerschaum Company has been making corn cob pipes for more than 150 years in downtown Washington, Missouri. It all began around 1869 when a Dutch woodworker named Henry Tibbe crafted a pipe from a corn cob. A local farmer was so impressed by the pipe, Tibbe decided to make more in his local woodwork shop and sold them around town. In 1907, H. Tibbe & Son Co. became the Missouri Meerschaum Company.

The company has made pipes for notable names such as General Douglas MacArthur, Norman Rockwell, Lyndon B. Johnson, Tennessee Ford, and many others. No tours are available of the factory, however, the museum is open Monday through Saturday.

Open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed on Sundays.
