In Mariánské Lázne it is possible to see many sights from all over Czechia in less than one day. The Boheminium miniature park opened in 1999 with six replicas of famous Czech landmarks, and has continued to add new exhibits over the years. Today the park includes 75 miniatures, including spa houses, churches, castles, towers, forts, a train track, a port, and an airport—every one of them on a scale of 1:25.

Located on top of a hill at the outskirts of Mariánské Lázne, the Boheminium is in a wooded area with paths winding through the 6-hectare area of the park. The 2.2-kilometer promenade leads through more than 6 centuries of Czech heritage and tells the history of the country through explanation plaques at every building. The plaques include information in Czech, German, and English. An adjoining map always shows where the original can be found and also offers a photo of the original building.

The miniatures in the park resemble buildings of the Czech Republic only, in a wide range from historical buildings to more modern ones, as well as technical replicas. Some of the highlights of the park’s miniatures include the Pilgrimage Church of Saint John of Nepomuk and the Spiral Tower of Krásno.

One of the park’s specialties is reconstructing buildings that have been destroyed. Important historical buildings that cannot be seen as original anymore have been reconstructed from old plans, paintings, and photographs. While creating these miniatures, the builders strive to reconstruct the replicas up to the smallest detail. In 2011, the park started a project with the nearby prison in Horní Slavkov. Under the management of experienced builders, incarcerated people have been helping construct parts or even whole models for the Boheminium.

Every year about five new buildings are added.  Other miniatures are on display inside the park’s café, such as ships, cars, planes, and more. The café offers coffee and cake as well as fast food, some regional food, soft drinks, and some alcoholic beverages.
