Micro Masterpieces Art Gallery

Only through the lens of a microscope can visitors see the true treasures inside this museum.

This serene space features paintings and sculptures only visible through a lighted microscope. The miniatures were carefully hand-crafted by Ukrainian artists.

The artists used unusual items as the canvas for the unique artwork—from the eye of a needle to a poppy seed, and even a single strain of human hair contains a work of art. The collection also includes the world’s smallest book and the gallery itself is intentionally small. To maintain a fresh perspective, only 30 pieces are displayed at one time. It’s believed the entire collection numbers in the hundreds.

The gallery shares a gift shop with the Medieval Torture Museum, but the owners stress that none of the miniatures have anything to do with violence: it’s two separate attractions that happen to be owned by the same person.

Know Before You Go

The gallery is on the same floor as the Medieval Torture Museum (100 Saint George Street | St. Augustine, FL 32084). You don't have to enter the museum to get into the gallery (two separate entrances).
