Parking garages typically mark their levels with numbers, letters, and maybe a color coding to make it easier to find your car. It’s a simple, utilitarian system.

But one garage in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has added some extra details on its floor markers to make the place a little more memorable. Rather than simply parking on “Level 3E Blue” or “Level 5A Red,” drivers can leave their vehicles on levels marked with a depiction of a “Green Grass Snake,” a “Golden Tortoise Beetle,” or one of six other animals found in Michigan.

In addition to simple, clean depictions of the animals, each floor marker also has a map showing the creature’s range in the continental United States. The art panels, which are located in the main stairwell of the building, were designed by Ann Arbor artist Bruce Worden in collaboration with the city’s Downtown Development Authority.
