About

Previously named Fort Macaulay, this location was once a military fortress guarding the coast of Victoria alongside Fort Rodd Hill as part of the Victoria-Esquimalt Fortress.

Active from 1878 to 1956, Fort Macaulay was the longest-serving component of the Victoria- Esquimalt Coast Defence Fortification System. It was declared obsolete in 1956.

The park is now popular among dog walkers and rock climbers who climb at Fleming bay.

ACCESSIBILITY:

The paths are a mix of paved, gravel, and dirt and this walk can generally be managed by wheelchair if it's not too muddy.
