About

Located in the middle of one of Singapore's residential districts is Bukit Batok Town Park, or more commonly known as Little Guilin. Its name derives from its striking resemblance to Guilin in China.

Little Guilin was once a quarry, supplying much of Singapore's granite needs until it was abandoned in the 1980s. Rainwater collected in the depression over time, turning the quarry into a lake. In 1984, the Housing and Development Board developed Little Guilin into a park, which it still is today.

Little Guilin is known to urban explorers and those living around the region, but it's relatively unknown to most other Singaporeans.

Know Before You Go

Little Guilin is easily accessible by public transportation and is within walking distance from Bukit Gombak MRT Station (NS3). A humid and hot environment is expected all year round, so wear breathable clothes. Be sure to bring insect repellent as mosquitos are common in nature parks such as Xiao Guilin.
