About

When driving around in the northern part of the Stockholm province you can expect to see many medieval churches, some old Nordic runestones, and oddly enough, a wooden cutout of the fictional Kronblom family wearing reflective safety vests.

Kronblom is an extremely long-running Swedish comic that has been released weekly since 1927. The series was created by comic artist Elov Persson and has been in the Persson family for three generations now. Going on for nearly a century, this comic has no plans to stop yet.

The story centers around the titular Kronblom, an older man in his sixties who is mostly known for his big nose and blue hat. He lives in the fictional town of Vinkelboda with his wife Malin and their pets. Kronblom does not like working and most of his adventures center around his efforts to avoid it. (The only thing that he dislikes more than work is his mother-in-law.)

The curious diorama seen on the side of the road in the town of Sigtuna shows the characters Kronblom and Malin wearing reflective vests, while Kronblom is also holding a lamp. It is possible that it was put there as a way to slow down drivers along the quiet country road.

Know Before You Go

The family is walking away from the street near a small private road that forks away from the country road. They wear reflective vests so it's hard to miss.
