Located in the Amana Colonies, Iowa, the creaky wooden floors and tin ceiling of this store along with the hardware drawers and vegetable bins are the same as they were the day the store opened in 1858. Many of the items on display are those that were for sale during the mid-19th century. Additionally, the store has retained a kerosene pump that was used to fill colonists’ containers, which they then brought home to fill their lamps.

The store is still owned by the fourth generation of the founding family; it has never been out of the family. Hard-to-find food, candy items, as well as unique gifts are for sale inside the store.
