About

While it's not entirely sure what Alberto Burri meant to convey with his sculpture, it stands as an iconic symbol of Ravenna. Is the sculpture meant to resemble the capsized frame of a ship hull, giant iron fingers piercing through the concrete, or does it symbolize the connection between the city and the sea? We may never know Alberto Burri's purpose for constructing this massive work of art, however, it will surely keep visitors pondering for years to come.

Know Before You Go

The sculpture is inside Pala de Andrè yard, so check opening times before adventuring out. You might find the gates are closed, however, the parking lot entrance (on the back of the block) is usually open.
