Solar Branco Gin Library

Sao Miguel, Portugal

A 19th-century mansion houses an impressively large collection of gin from around the world.

Solar Branco is a mansion that was built in the hills of Sao Miguel, the largest of the Portuguese Azores islands, in 1885. Today, the white estate has been turned into a hotel with its very own Gin Library. The collection, assembled over the course of the owner’s travels, currently consists of more than 400 bottles of gin from countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, South Africa, Australia, and Thailand.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own bottles of gin. If you bring one that’s not in the collection, you get a free tasting of the wares. Otherwise, you can pay to sample the diverse array of booze. The library also serves plenty of G&Ts.

Know Before You Go

While the hotel doesn't open until 2020, the Gin Library is currently open.
