About

Japan is known as the land of unusual vending machines, but a tiny machine providing fresh crepes 24 hours a day still manages to surprise those passing through Kobayashi.

According to locals, the vending machine has been around for over a decade and is regularly filled with fresh sweet treats by the owner of Sweet's Kiss, a crepe vendor in nearby Miyazaki City. Each crepe is carefully packed with fillings, rolled up, and placed behind the machine's glass window. Be sure to leave the crepes' containers on the nearby recycling tray, so as not to end up on the receiving end of critical stares from kids stopping by for an afternoon snack.

While the flavors are displayed in Japanese, the little photos next to the buttons will give you some clue as to what you are getting. And for just 200 yen (about $2) a pop, you can afford to try a few different types.

Know Before You Go

The vending machine is just a short walk from JR Kobayashi Station, right across the street from the Tenamu shopping building. It will have the word クレープ ("crepe") at the top.
