About

Nestled between homes on a quiet Romanian backstreet lies an old Communist film storage building. Mostly gutted out now and in a state of disrepair, strangely there are still a few rooms almost completely filled with reels and reels of 35mm film.

The depot was abandoned in the early 2000s. A local initiative has tried to gather support to restore the building, with hopes of turning it into a screening venue and a museum of Romanian cinema.

Know Before You Go

The easiest way to get to it is from the Fany bus station and walk up the street called Strada Septimiu Muresan. One side (left) will be overgrown trees with a small canal/river. It will appear about one kilometer along. If you get to the police academy you’ve gone about 100 meters too far.
