About

This monument was built in 1860 and was based on a project by Rodolfo Vantini to house the remains of Angelo Bonomini and his partner Giuseppe Simoni, the benefactors of the Spedali Civili of Brescia. But in the end, Vantini never received the two corpses due to new municipal ordinances that mandated burials be confined to public cemeteries.

According to popular tradition, only a dog has been deposed within the tomb, hence its nickname as "Dog's Grave." The sepulcher is one of the most unique Brescian monuments of the 19th century and is clearly visible from the city.
