About

“The Joy of Painting” turned Bob Ross from a small-town art instructor into one of America’s most recognizable faces (and voices). Today, the largest collection of the iconic host’s original art can be seen not in a museum, but in a Florida strip mall.

Ross refused to sell his work which consequently resulted in the majority of his paintings being kept in storage at Bob Ross, Inc. headquarters in Virginia. When Ross opened a workshop in 1993 to teach and sell art supplies, he decided to fill the studio’s walls with his work.

The Bob Ross Gallery and Workshop contains 59 Ross originals on display, which visitors can view free of charge. In recent years, Ross’s work has gained more critical respect and even a spot in the Smithsonian. But this strip mall museum remains the largest and only permanent gallery devoted to Bob Ross.
