Phil Busse
For years, I thought I would be a spy. To prepare, I learned to scuba dive and speak foreign languages. I worked in Saigon and for ex-president Jimmy Carter.
But I have trouble not sharing a secret, and instead I ended up as a writer and media producer in Portland, Oregon.
Which also isn't so bad.
I helped launch a popular weekly newspaper, the Portland Mercury, and XRAY, a local radio station. I also serve as the Director a nonprofit, the Media Institute for Social Change that makes radio and film documentaries about Portland.
My favorite travel are the trips that integrate me into the community and culture. After graduating college, I worked for three months on a remote Costa Rica beach studying sea turtles. That was pretty great.
