Come explore Newfoundland's natural wonders, rich history, rural charms, and locally sourced cuisines, from the capital city of St. John’s to the historic hamlets of the Irish Loop, an area well known for its beauty, friendly folk, and faery lore. Our connections with the local community will be complemented by the chance to learn about the island’s history from the direct descendants of some of its key characters. During our week of adventure, we’ll experience these windswept landscapes through their wild foods and local produce, as well as an abundance of art, music, and cultural heritage—not to mention a chance to tour a crab processing plant. You'll head home with a sense of the tenacious, welcoming, and unique character of Newfoundland and the people who call it home.

Learning the history of this very special place and interacting with the wonderful folks who call Newfoundland home was my favorite part of the trip, but the scenery, the activities selected, the food, and new friends made also made the trip absolutely wonderful!

Arrival & Departure

For flights in and out of St. John's International Airport (YYT), you should plan to arrive by 4 p.m. on September 19, and depart any time on September 27. If you'd like to extend your stay before or after the trip, we're happy to reserve extra nights at our hotel in St. John's or provide additional recommendations for things to do and see in the area. For those interested in a road-trip adventure, there is a vehicle and passenger ferry that makes stops in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

Activity Level

This trip is fairly active. Travelers should be reasonably fit and feel comfortable walking three to five miles over the course of each day and remaining outside and on their feet for long periods of time. We will be walking on roads, beaches, and dirt paths. The itinerary also may involve time on a boat (weather dependent), so we recommend you be comfortable around and on water.
