Wat Chai Sri demonstrates the people of Isan's unique approach to depicting Buddhist folklore.
The chapel is set in a large open area of the temple compound. From far away, it looks relatively typical, featuring reddish-brown tiled roof and pointy architecture. But upon closer inspection, series of Hup Taem artistic paintings in the traditional narrative style of northeastern Thailand. The colors, artistic style, and inclusion of local language and symbols are unlike any other art one will see in Thailand.

While the exterior murals and temple grounds are open to everyone, cultural customs restrict women from accessing the ordination hall. Visitors to Buddhist temples are encouraged to dress modestly.
