Slate Cafe

If your school was decorated with trippy graffiti, served ambrosial coffee, and was frequented by mimes, it might have been similar to this groovy cafe.

Update: Slate Cafe closed in March, 2016.

Shoreditch is famous for its eclectic community of coffee shops. Slate Cafe fits right in with the perfect blend of out-of-this-world vibes with sensational coffee.

Getting your morning mojo on has never been hipper, and the authentic Australian Allpress coffee is only a piece of the Slate experience. The cafe is decorated by graffiti artists from “Somewhere to,” a charity that helps budding street artists find easels, it’s furnished with revamped school furniture and illuminated by eco-friendly plumen light bulbs. For the caffeine-haters, Slate also prepares ice-cold smoothies and freshly squeezed orange juice. A tempting array of sandwiches, pastries, and cookies complement the delicious beverages.

To top it off, Slate is regularly visited by an assortment of mimes who occasionally perform. It’s not for naught that Slate lays claim to the best “mimeaccino you never tasted.”
