The Hexenturm or “Witch Tower” is one of four gates to the medieval fortress in Jülich, Germany. It is in a typical Gothic style and consists of two stone towers, each with loopholes for archers. Its name, which is commonly used for such towers around the continent, refers to the known witch trials in the city, but the building was generally used for all sorts of other prisoners. 

Jülich is a wonderful example of a German medieval walled city, and the Hexenturm now hosts the city museum and is connected to a restaurant of the same name.
