If you happen to be searching for a wunderkammer while wandering about Milan, you’ll want to pop into this shop. It feels like a real cabinet of curiosities, complete with strange items like specimens floating in jars, taxidermy beasts, and anatomical models.
Antichi Vizi was opened 15 years ago by Alessandro Casati, a collector. Over the years, his enthusiasm and passion for collecting spread to his daughter Francesca, who now runs the shop.
The store originally focused on objects related to drinking and drugs (its name translates to “Ancient Vices”). But over the years, its collection grew to encompass so much more.
Today, you can also expect to find a trove of twisted curiosities and macabre mementos. Its shelves are stuffed with animal skeletons, preserved insects, and taxidermy critters. The antique objects on display and for sale are both eerie and intriguing, and shopping here almost feels like browsing a museum’s collection.
