39 New Places in the Second-Edition Atlas Obscura Book

Now available wherever books are sold.

The world is not static. It is dynamic, shifting, and impossible to pin down. That’s one reason we always knew we would update and add new wonders to our bestselling book.

This month, we’re excited to announce the release of Atlas Obscura, 2nd Edition: An Explorer’s Guide to the World’s Hidden Wonders. We’ve added more than 100 unusual places as well as new features, such as a fold-out map of a “dream” around-the-world journey and 12 city guides for destinations including Buenos Aires, Cairo, and Los Angeles.

From the world’s largest beaver dam in Alberta, Canada, to a boiling river in Puerto Inca, Peru, the book now includes some of the most incredible places we’ve come across since publishing the first edition. Some are manmade, such as the world’s largest underwater sculpture and the remains of Jacques Cousteau’s 1960s underwater “village,” while others are incredible natural phenomena such as the Milky Seas, the world’s largest bioluminescent area.

Here are just some of our favorite new entries in Atlas Obscura, 2nd Edition, on sale now wherever books are sold.
