What We’ll Do

In Portland Oregon, there stands a home with many names. Hobbit Home, Mushroom Abode, Star Wars House, Dome Home. No matter what you call it, this home’s unique design and story make it a truly unique and fascinating place.

Dutch artist, musician, actor, and mime, Francisco Reyners designed and built the Dome Home in 1978.  Reynders mistrusted right angles so he chose to build a series of nine domes linked together by flat roofs. These domes hold many secrets.  First off Reyners used salvaged materials from the WWII aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill.  Next, if you look close enough you will find  painted satyrs, secret passageways and other dramatic surprises just waiting to be discovered.

Since Reynders’ death in 1996, the Dome Home went through several owners and eventually fell into disrepair.  Rebecca and Alex Hagmuller eventually saved this true treasure from being torn down.  They now call the Dome Home their own and are restoring it back to its former glory.
