Are you curious about each of the world's 18 penguin species? Charles Bergman, the author-photographer who traveled the world to see them in their natural habitats, is the guy to ask. Join us on a virtual journey that delves into his 20-year-long quest. Through storytelling and photography, he'll take us into the wilderness, from the Galapagos to South Africa and Antarctica, to discover these fascinating creatures.

This experience is part of Fan Favorites Week (Sept. 21-25) at Atlas Obscura! Over the past six months, we've worked with some of the most fascinating, curious, and exciting people on the planet to bring you a wide range of interactive online experiences, broadcasting the world's wonders right into your living room. Charles Bergman
Charles Bergman

A writer and photographer, Charles Bergman has lived nearly his whole life in the Pacific Northwest. He's a long-time teacher of English at Pacific Lutheran University. He's the author of five books, including Wild Echoes: Encounters with the Most Endangered Animals in North America. He's written extensively on wildlife and animals in national magazines, including Audubon, Natural History, National Geographic, and Smithsonian. His article on wildlife trafficking in Latin America was the cover story in Smithsonian. His work springs from a wild dedication to the Earth and its creatures. His writing and photography have won several awards, including the Washington State Book Award, Southwest Book Award, Ben Franklin Book Award, and he was a PEN USA Literary Award finalist. He has a particular love for the Southern Hemisphere and has completed two Fulbright Fellowships, in Mexico and Ecuador. He has taught study tours in Antarctica six times. The penguin quest took him and his wife to some of the most remote islands in the world on his penguin quest.

Once registered, you can access the Zoom room for this experience through your confirmation email or Eventbrite account. A recording of the Fan Favorites Week experience will be available to all registered ticket holders for five days after the event.
