History Worth Its Salt

Common table salt has an incredible history – join us as we learn and taste its salty past!

Are you worth your weight in salt? Why did Lot's wife turn into a pillar of salt? What does it mean if someone is "salty?" Learn the answer to these questions and more as we explore the remarkable history and lore of common table salt.

Join resident spice and expert Ivan Fitzgerald, owner of DC's Bazaar Spices, as we take a journey through the history of this invaluable compound. You will learn about salt's many uses, its influence on trade, and its continued impact on our everyday lives.

Finally, we'll sample salts from around the globe in a salty tasting session and even make our very own flavored salt, which attendees will get to take home.
