Come dine on the food & lore associated with history’s darkest day. Experience a candlelit dinner served with a side of sinister stories on a hidden farm.

Paraskevidekatriaphobia: that’s the word for fear of Friday the 13th. Legend has it, a menacing medieval king ordered hundreds of Knights Templar burned alive one fateful Friday, October 13th, 1307. Forever after, popular culture memorialized this disturbing date.

Join us at Mountair Park Community Farm as we explore the intersections of dining and death with an evening guaranteed to enchant the senses.

Over a multi-course candle-lit meal prepared by award-winning Italian chefs, we’ll unpack funeral myths and rituals from around the world with food to fuel the imagination.

Each course will be served with a scintillating story. Throughout the evening we’ll uncover culinary clues to a cryptic riddle you’ll be dying to solve!

ABOUT OUR HOSTING PARTNERS:

We’re combining forces with Sprout City Farms, A Notte Pop-ups & Private Events and a local storyteller to make the magic happen.

FARM:

A portion of proceeds will be donated to Sprout City Farms (who manage the farm we’ll be gathering at), an urban farming organization that cultivates educational urban farms that engage and strengthen communities.

SCF seeded their first urban community farm in 2011 in response to growing interest in utilizing social and physical resources to create healthier, more resilient local food communities, especially in neighborhoods experiencing an economic or educational disadvantage. By increasing access to fresh produce, SCF is able to make significant impacts in the neighborhoods in which their farms are located.

SCF believes that all members of the community have a right to healthy, fresh, naturally grown food. They offer a variety of programs designed to meet every level of need to ensure that the communities surrounding their farms are healthy and nourished.

FOOD:

A Notte combines the hearty welcome of a backyard barbecue with the culinary chops of downtown’s busiest restaurants. In Italian, a notte means one night, as all of their pop-ups are designed for a specific place and time. Their specialty is crafting eye-opening cuisine, while making sure every guest feels like part of the family.

Jeffrey and Marelle are the founding partners of A Notte. Growing up on the East Coast, the pair was exposed to dishes as diverse as curries, clam bakes and chicken parm. After 15 years earning their respective stripes in the kitchen and front-of-house service, they teamed up to introduce Coloradans to a fresh, rule-breaking brand of fine dining.

CHEF JEFF DEAKYNE

Having worked in the award-winning kitchens of Root Down, Il Posto and The Plimoth, it’s safe to say Jeff has rubbed elbows with Denver’s culinary greats. His flavors are full-on farm-to-table, featuring local Colorado ingredients and purveyors. Of all his skills, he’s most proud of his nonna-approved pasta, whipping up shapes and sauces from every corner of Italy.

MARIELLE D'ONOFRIO

Raised in the restaurant business, a sense of service runs in Marielle’s blood. After hustling her way through Washington DC’s refined restaurant scene, Marielle pursued formal hospitality studies in Florence, Italy. Eventually landing back in the states, she has since apprenticed at a culinary herb farm in Kansas and currently runs sales and distribution for The Growhaus, a nonprofit community farm in Denver.
