AFI Silver Theatre & Atlas Obscura Present: Our Heavenly Bodies

Revel in the beauty and mystery of the universe with a special screening of this 1925 space-age masterpiece with live musical accompaniment.

The beautiful, majestic 1925 German film Our Heavenly Bodies is a dreamy investigation of the wonders that await humanity at the advent of space travel.

Using technological wizardry and the prevailing theories of the time, the movie captures the shared curiosity and belief that humans will one day ascend to the stars. Part documentary, part science fiction, the movie is quite reminiscent of Carl Sagan's wildly popular COSMOS.

Join the Atlas Obscura Society D.C. and AFI Silver Theatre for a very special screening of Our Heavenly Bodies, accompanied by a live musical score from the Nashville-based band Coupler. In addition, the film will be introduced by Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum curator of space history Cathleen Lewis.
