The story of the World Snowmobile Headquarters began in 1983, when a group of snowmobile-obsessed friends gathered in Minocqua, Wisconsin and came to a startling realization: The world lacked a headquarters for all things snowmobile.

The next year, the World Snowmobile Headquarters was founded, in a one-story building in northern Wisconsin next to the snowmobile-focused Eagle River Derby Track.

Inside the headquarters building is the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame, displaying more than 80 plaques commemorating the greatest snowmobilers of all time. Also found throughout the facility are flags, photographs, snowmobile jackets, and trophies dedicated to the winter sport. And be sure not to miss out on what the World Snowmobile Headquarters claims to be the world’s largest collection of antique snowmobiles, featuring old-fashioned models dating back to the 1950s.

Every year since its founding, the World Snowmobile Headquarters hosts a “Ride with the Champs” event, bringing in riders from all across the Midwest to display their prowess and meet with fans. This annual tradition can be experienced every winter. And every January, the Eagle River Derby Track hosts the World Championship Snowmobile Derby, the one of the largest snowmobile competitions in the sport, drawing in 40,000 spectators per year.
