The tallest windmill is actually a disguise. Hidden inside of the windmill’s 43-meter-tall tower is a wind power station. Operated by the Nolet Distillery, Noletmolen in Schiedam, South Holland, measures 55 meters at the top of the rotor, making it the tallest in the world. But if you’re not counting this as a real windmill because of the way the structure is being used, then the tallest isn’t very far away; De Noord has a roof height of 33.3 meters.

Despite the large base, this windmill resembles a traditional Schiedam windmill - just much larger. The Noletmolen was built by the Nolet Distillary in 2005 to power their brewing factory, which produced the world-famous Ketel One vodka. It went into operation in May 2006.
